Native Americans in Chicago, Part Two: The 1950s

Join Dr. Chris Stacey for the second part of this three-part series on Chicago's Indian Metropolis. In this program we'll discuss Native American Life in Chicago During the 1950s. The American Indian Center, St. Augustine’s Center for American Indians, the Uptown neighborhood and the workplace. We will review a packet of newspaper articles from the 1950s and look at some primary sources from the Robert Reitz papers.

March 6 - P3: Native American Life in Chicago During the 1960s. Bureau of Indian Affairs 1968 “Chicago Story” promotional film. Chicago’s Native American Committee, the O-Wai-Ya-Wa elementary school and the emergence of Intertribal activism. Packet of newspaper articles from the 1960s and look at some primary sources from the Robert Reitz papers.
