Join host Bo Tran, fellow alumni, and friends for an informative and rewarding evening with two prominent financial and business minds in the Chicagoland area. This event will provide an opportunity to broaden your knowledge on the economy, investing, or starting a business. Collaborate with other interested parties and ask questions of the experts on the hottest topics in these subject areas. Light food and refreshments will be served (including wine and beer).
Speakers
Brian Maddox - Brian is Managing Director of Stifel and has been involved with wealth management since about 1982. Stifel is a full service investment firm that dates back to 1890. Brian will discuss Stifel's perspective of the present volatile economy and investment strategies, and answer/address questions/topics that you have submitted in advance. Prior to joining Stifel, Brian worked for Barclay and Citigroup managing their wealth management offerings.
Chris McGowan - Chris presently teaches at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship). Chris is also Managing Director of CJM Ventures, LLC/ OPTO Holdings, LP. Chris is an alum of Columbia (BA, Math) and Harvard (MBA). Chris will share his knowledge on:
- Entrepreneurship- the Chicago ecosystem and ways to get involved
- Angel investing – is it right for you, and how to get started
- Search funds – what are they, are they right for you, and how to get started
- Venture Capital funds - are they right for you, and how to get started
- Private Equity funds - are they right for you, and how to get started
