Come join fellow Columbia alumni and friends and family as we celebrate our local community this holiday season with live music, food, and merrymaking. This year’s party is held in the Salon des Artistes Music at the historic Fine Arts Building and is sure to be a strong crescendo to a year of maestoso events and engagement with fellow alumni.
Schedule for the Evening
6:30PM-7:30PM: Social Hour, Open Bar, Catering by Kaufman’s Deli, and Background Music Provided by a Violinist or Pianist from the Salon des Artistes Music.
7:30PM-8:15PM: Dramatic Reading Contest. Party attendees can prepare and read a favorite holiday piece (three minutes maximum performance). At the end of our dramatic readings a vote is taken and the top winners receive prizes!
8:15PM-8:45PM: Concert by Paul Dykstra, Piano
8:45PM-9:00PM: Festive Holiday Sing-a-Long Accompanied by Paul Dykstra

About Pianist Paul Dykstra
Paul Dykstra is the Artist in Residence for Temple Jeremiah at Northfield, Illinois. He supported choral and keyboard activities at Temple Sholom of Chicago for more than 25 years. As a collaborative pianist, he has dedicated his career to chamber music and to exposing the world to the music lost in the Nazi Holocaust of World War II. He has performed as a special guest of the Singer Festival in Warsaw, Poland, debuting the chamber music (piano trio) of Mieczyslaw Weinberg and other great Jewish composers.
As the Musical Director and Conductor of the Chicago-based Lira Singers and Founding Conductor of the Lira Symphony Orchestra, Dykstra spent more than 15 years bringing the opera and classical music of Poland to audiences throughout the United States. He conducted recordings and led performances with Lira at Chicago’s famed Symphony Center.
