The third group theater-going event sponsored by the Columbia University Alumni Club of Chicago will take place on Thursday, September 17 at the Court Theater in Hyde Park at 7:30 pm. The play is Columbia, Gem of the Ocean by August Wilson, and is one of a series of ten-plays Wilson wrote to chronicle the life of African-Americans in each decade of the 20th century. Member tickets are $25 (a discount of $10 from the regular price for previews, which are always followed by discussion with members of the company. The theater is located on Ellis Avenue, a block or two south of 55th St. There is free parking in a UC parking garage on Elllis just north of the theater. 

Dining Option: Please also let one of us know if you are interested in sharing a meal with other club members before the play. The plan is to gather at a restaurant in Hyde Park called Promontory, 5311 South 5311 South Lake Park Avenue, just south of 53rd st. and fairly close to to Lake Shore Drive. Promontory offers parking and is a short ride from the Court Theater. We should probably gather around 6 pm, order from the menu, and gp Dutch treat.
